In 2024, Glimmer will begin a transition from an international NGO to a direct grantmaker. This strategic shift will allow us to direct our resources towards local initiatives that address the most critical challenges in rural Ethiopia with grants funded by Glimmer’s endowment. This new approach is rooted in a deep commitment to placing development in the hands of communities and local leaders.

Glimmer will carry out projects planned in 2024. All donations received to date will support this work. We are working closely with our local partners to ensure a responsible transition, honoring the trust and investment our donors and constituents have placed in us.

As Glimmer transitions to a direct grantmaker, we are closing down our U.S. office by the end of 2024 and reducing our staff in the Ethiopia office.
